Bio

Tommee found his way to Pizza Port in May of 1997 having worked as an assistant brewer for the now defunct Cervecerias La Cruda and later as an accounts manager for White Labs. It’s hard to believe that Tomme has been with us for over 8 years now.

A native San Diegan, Tomme is happier than ever to call Solana Beach Pizza Port his home away from home (though his wife Maureen wishes he would travel less). During his time in Solana Beach, Tomme has earned the respect of his peers and consumers everywhere with his freelancing style of brewing. He is the two time GABF Small Brewpub Brewer of the Year 2003 and 2004. He has 11 GABF medals to his credit and has won numerous brewing awards including the 2001 Malt Advocate Domestic Beer of the Year and a Best of Show at the 2001 California State Fair.

He along with Jeff Bagby and Tom Nickel are the Organizers of three of the best beer events in this great Country- The San Diego Strong Ale, Real Ale and 12 Hour Belgian Beer Party are enormously successful events and part of the San Diego Brewing scene.

Tomme is proud of the recognition and success that Pizza Port has achieved over the years. Most recently recognized by Ratebeer.com as the 8 th best brewing company in the world (not bad for a little brewery by the beach)! The accolades reinforce that passion and a commitment to local brewing communities can make a difference. The San Diego brewing scene is alive and vibrant while Pizza Port remains committed to making this region identifiable as one of the best places to be a beer enthusiast.

In his new role as Director of Brewery Operations, Tomme will continue to brew in Solana Beach and oversee the acquisition and development of a production facility thereby realizing a dream to package and distribute more handcrafted beers into the market. Background

I have a BA in English from Northern Arizona University which I put to good use writing articles for brewery based publications, Port Brewing Beer labels and website data.

I have been a professional brewer since April of 1996 and before that was a homebrewer. I have been employed with Pizza Port for the last nine years and was hired in May of 1997 as the Head Brewer for the Solana Beach location.
